The American Academy of Pediatrics has been a part of my training for the past more than 12 years.

I was honored to receive the Holyroyd-Sherry award for communication for demonstrating that the influence of the media on the health of children and adolescents is an important public health issue. And the truth is I am extremely EXCITED for this honor🍾🙏🎉. (And celebrating it a little late)

I tell you that over the past few years I have been invited to be part of a new group of Hispanic pediatricians dedicated to being able to clearly communicate information to all of us.

It has been a great adventure to be able to be present and continue to open doors for our community.

These types of lights on the road give me more energy to continue what All of us have done to learn and help our family.

This I have not done alone. I have to acknowledge @DrTanyaAltmann for being able to lead my way and also superstars like @davidlhillmd.

Logically to my beautiful wife for putting up with my start to the day at 4am and flexibility for the “it’s only 5 minutes.”

These health messages would not go that far without the base of clinics such as @altamedhealths and the amplification of reporters, producers, directors and artists who see health as a tool to improve our community.

I can only celebrate and share with you this great joy.

Am I in the right place?

Have you ever wondered when you wake up or are in a gathering if you are in the right place?

As I’m flying back from Washington DC, I ponder on the question.

I begin assessing the activities and projects accomplished (and that long list of things to do). But the thing that keeps coming to my mind again and again are the people that were present.

During the trip I met with colleagues that I have not seen in years. Nothing beats the feeling of sharing a conversation with someone on the same physical space.

Connecting again about adventures, old scars, but the thing that I enjoy the most, the opportunities that are being created.

I’m coming back home after an accomplished exciting agenda about:

1) Opportunities to help our brothers and sisters in need.
2) Vaccination and health communications for our communities.
3) Opening new synergies of #DEI with the National Council of Diversity for the American Red Cross (and officially a #RedCrosser for 2 years).
4) Having the opportunity in stepping inside one of the most iconic places in the world (Check out the smile in the picture).
5) Sharing the efforts and best practices that AltaMed Health Services has learned for the past 50+years.
6) Generating new connections to unite efforts to make a difference from #LosAngeles#Mexico and the #US.

After 6 years of serving and living the #AltaMed mission and building new road maps, will continue shearing the paths and learnings from AltaMed Health Services with leaders to create synergies for those that need the most.

Today I can tell you, I am in the right place.
